How many miles on motor? Could be something simple like a thermostat or low coolant, or something more involved like a water pump or restricted radiator. The cooling system will have to be inspected. if you or someone you know are handy, replace the thermostat and top off coolant and go from there. Thermostats are 5 dollars, coolant is 15~20 for a bottle or premixed. If that doesn't fix it you'll have to inspect the system. The worst case scenario is you have a blown head gasket, most auto parts stores carry something called Block Tester (you can rent it from them too) which will check coolant for combustion gases byproducts. Good luck.
