Car died after letting off gas and now won't even turn over.

My son was on the freeway and began to accelerate. The car acted like it
didn't want to shift and was at 4000 rpm, so he let off the gas to hopefully
get it to shift (its an automatic) and it died. He rolledit to the side of the road
and now it won't even turn over. I hooked jumper cables up to his battery
and mine and let it sit for about 5 minutes. This made it so that his car
acted like it was going to start, it atleast turned over. WHat is wrong? Is it
the alternator?

Speed sensors???im kind of sure...if odometer wasnt metering the mph...and the rpm was workin...most likely the output speed sensor...or a problem on the tcm or the transmission it self...or it may got into limp mode due to a issue on the engine...or wiring problem...bad connection..bad wire .etc
