2005 dodge timing belt

Asked by jaq2018 Jun 08, 2018 at 04:36 PM about the 2005 Dodge Neon

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2005 neon, I woke up one morning and my car would not start, I got the code from the dash it said P0340 so I changed my camshaft sensor, car still will not start, it wants to though. My question is if it has a broken timing belt and it happened when I was not driving, could  my valves still be damaged? and would trying to start the car damage the valves?

It is at the mechanic, I am just praying that me trying to start did not bend or do any damage to my car, I am female I do not know much about cars

Mechanic called and said its broken belt, I just don't know anymore I am trying to ease my mind till I get the final verdict
