What are the possible reasons for my car not cranking

I was driving down the road and my check
engine light came on and the went back off.  
My car the began to ride rough.  I pulled
over to do a quick inspection and now it will
not crank.

Pull codes and check your fuel pressure, listen when you turn key over to see if you hear fuel pump buzzing or humm for a sec.
