No forward movement when in gear

Asked by Denise Feb 06, 2017 at 04:07 PM about the 2001 Ford Mustang

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Recently I was hearing noise like clicking or soft
thumping when I let off the gas or when braking.
Was on the interstate the other day accelerating
into traffic and heard a loud bang/boom now I have
no forward movement when in gear. 01 V6 with a
V-chip racing clutch originally was being built to
drift. Any ideas? Clutch? Tranny? Something way
worse? Help?!!!

Sounds like the pressure plate let loose. I think you'll have to pull the trany to see what is going on, unless there is an inspection cover you can pull off for the clutch. The trany is easy enough to check on the ground.

Ty . I was told that was going bad because 2nd gear didn't like to stay when shifting sometimes
