2004 dodge durango

Too many variables to give an accurate answer. Having wheel cut all the way over may not have had anything to do with engine dying. Can always check power steering fluid level to be safe. If any number of sensors caused engine shutoff you would have set one or more trouble codes, even if CEL didn't illuminate. Pull codes to know for sure. If engine stalls become frequent get a tune up and clean/replace filters and sensors. A dirty IAC (intake air control) valve can cause stalls when foot is not pressing gas pedal. But again, way too many variables to try and guess why an engine stalled a single time.

I had a 05 Durango that did the same thing. Never figured it out.

Also, the power steering when wheels are turned all the way one way or another puts a big load on the power steering pump that causes the engine to labor so to speak. Depends on how fast the wheel is being turned bringing the suspension to the stops, pressure against the stops when wheel is turned... the power steering pump is just trying to create the pressure for turning the wheels putting a abnormal load on the engine. Never the less, it may be time for the engine needing some attention, throttle body cleaned, MAF sensor needing cleaning, air filter checked and such.
