Depending on the cams lift & duration check for valve to piston clearence & or ask the cam mfg. if its compatable with your stock motor. The short answer is PISTONS! some cams require high compression. notched, pop-up, pistons for valve clearence. Us "old school" hot rodders used to use clay on top of 1 piston. install 1 head, crank it over by hand, remove the head, & look for marks. Otherwise 10 - 20 degrees over stock cam spec's is OK. but NO high lift cams without a new high perf. piston change!
