Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Last year I put a new engine into my truck - this morning when I went to align it the guy tells/shows me a crack in the frame which just is not worth fixing. So now I want to get another truck that I can put my engine into. Is the engine only compatible with chevy trucks 80-89 and/or can I also look at GMCs of those same years? Its an 8cylinder 5.7L

That's a nice looking truck, It's to bad, sorry for your issue. I'm not a machanic, but I would think the major thing would be if its compatible with the transmission. As far as the 5.7 many older GM cars & trucks used that motor. Corvette is one, I had a 1997 C1500 with one & my 85 Monte Carlo has a 7.4 so it would fit in there as well. Good luck
