We have a 88 chevy Scottsdale 2500, it is
getting fuel but won't stay running. New
pump, new filter.
if I give her gas in carb, she runs, however
when she runs out of direct fuel she chokes
out. Injectors work/spray

Could be the carb jets are clogged or the float is stuck. At its age, a rebuild or replacement of the carb may be needed. Unless you are attached to the carb in the vehicle, I would opt for a rebuilt unit. Not hard to put in just take your time and take pictures when removing the old one.
I just re-read your problem description again and you mention "Injectors work/spray". If you have a fuel injection system and not a carberator, troubleshooting is a little different. Which do you have for fuel delivery, a carb or fuel injection?
Sorry, not an engine guru, it is a 2 barrel assembly with overhead injection
Fuel drips in when turning over and sprays when throttled
