My 1985 Chevy Silverado 350, 5.7L has the choke light on and makes like it want to die pretty often when in reverse… until i take my foot off the gas. then it comes back to life. what could be the problem?

when you take your foot off or put it on the gas does it come back alive

when i put it in reverse then push on the gas it start to putter like it will die, it never has … taking my foot OFF the gas it come right back. its weird it sometimes when driving or turning corners it does the same thing and i take my foot off the gas it comes back slowly. I don't think the 2 are related but maybe they are??

Is the truck carbureted? If so, the choke my actually be stuck. If its electronic, it may be unplugged. Its sounds like the motor is falling on its face because its being flooded with fuel and not enough air.

had the carb rebuilt about 5 years ago but it only has about 1000 mi since then
