Engine change

Asked by Guru5W8Z1 Jan 01, 2018 at 08:04 PM about the 1985 Chevrolet C/K 10

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 1985 C 10 with a 4.3 v6 I want
to install a 283 or 350 v8 I was told
they should bolt right in. Is this true?

This would be a straight forward swap but you may need to upgrade the radiator and you will need correct motor mounts and exhaust. I don't know if Chevy used a light duty trans with the 6 but make sure you use a transmission rated for a V8.
