Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I try starting my car, it makes a clicking
sound but does not turn over. All the dash
lights are on. A few times a jump started it
right up.. but this morning it didn't. But I
didn't keep the plus on it.

First check your battery and nake sure you have 12 volts, I would also load test the battey, you can bring it to a a parts store such as Auto Zone. If thats tests ok, then check the stater relay and starter.

Stop jumping your car- it is dangerous- batteries can explode- how old is your battery? Sounds like it is time to replace it-

I'm not sure how old it is but I only bought the car from someone a year ago.. I don't want to change the starter if it's only the battery

The first reply is your first check, and the simplest. Once you have tested the battery, I would check the connections from the battery to the starter solenoid, if all the connections are good and clean, test the resistance the starter. With those checks you should find your problem.

I know this is an old post but check the battery terminals. The wires were covered in currosion on mine inside the terminal and had to be cleaned.
