blown head gasket and water pump out

Asked by Aaron Dec 24, 2015 at 03:06 PM about the 2001 Ford Taurus

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have 2001 cord Taurus and the water pump went out and oil is in the over fill for the radiator
and oil came out of the engine. The car died but then started up and was able to drive and then
later tried to start it again but it wouldn't. How can I tell whether it's the head gaskets or worse ?

Water pump likely went out and overheated it until the head gasket blew. Oil in the coolant is not good.
