Why does my 02 intrepid run hot then not crank afterward?

It ran hot then when we tried to crank it afterwards it cranked then died out any reasons and how to fix it?

Okay....why's it runnin' hot? Low on coolant, cooling fan shnookered? thermostat won't open? how hot and for how long we talkin? completely baked and smokin' Did you not see the needle sayin' HOT--stop the car! perhaps it is too late...let's hope that if you pull the dipstick that there isn't any coolant or trace of coolant in there, likewise the cooling jacket should not have any oil in it. I fear the plugs are fouled now because they've been sludged by high-temperature. oy vey...more testing to see what happened...please take a look at the fluids and report...
