How do I jumpstart my 2001 Dodge Intrepid.

Asked by JS2001Dodge Mar 17, 2010 at 04:08 PM about the 2001 Dodge Intrepid

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I can only find the negative post. I can not find the positive post. I can see the battery on the left hand side under what appears to be the housing for the air filter. Please help. TY

There should be a positive(red) post under the hood. However you will need to attach the ground(black) clamp to a piece of bare metal on the engine or frame.

There is a box on the left side (as you are looking down under the hood). It is just to the right of where the air filter cover. There is a red button behind it. Push the button and lift the cover up. That is a connector for the positive post. The battery, unfortunately, is underneath the air filter cover (why Dodge did that, I'll never know).

The 2001 Intrepid put the negative post on the left side of the engine compartment almost flush with the firewall. It is clearly marked "NEG" with some other wording next to it. The positive lead, as I replied to JS2001Dodge, is located just to the right of the air filter cover. It is under a black box which has a red button on the back. Push that button and lft the box up and it will uncover the positive lead.
