Acceleration hesitation

Asked by Tony Jul 22, 2018 at 12:06 PM about the 1998 Dodge Dakota

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 98 dodge Dakota sport. It runs great
except when taking off it has a hesitation like it's
missing. Anyone have any suggestions? I already
replaced plugs wires and fuel injectors.

I have the same truck & same issue... the shop told me it was some type gasket or coupler that is in the transmission and it is worn out so when the truck is going i to 1st gear or from out of 1st gear into 2nd islts rubbing sometimes makes a reallly loudmetal rubbing grinding noise (sounds like a transformer transforming to me lol) but once its in 2nd gear its runs perfectly ... The shop told me its not worth getting fixed bcuz the labor will be sooooooo high it was like a $3000 job with the labor being about 23 hundred of it bcuz on the part that needs to be replaced in in the back of the transmission so its a tear down and rebuilding of the trans... so they told me to just take it easy on the gas when u start from a stop... and as long as i do in transition very smoothly u dont even notice it.. so just start slow and then once tou are in 2nd give it some go!!!
