Press the "Unlock" button on the remote keyless entry device. Insert the key into the ignition. Turn the ignition switch to "ON" without starting the engine. Press and hold the valet/override button below the steering column within five seconds of turning the ignition on. Release the valet/override button when the security light on the instrument panel stops blinking. The alarm is reset and disabled.
How do the valet override button looks
I lost my remote device and just have a spare key

i want to know how to shut off the alarm system with out a keyless device
Not sure if this will work for you without the remote, but today I was trying to start my 2003 Durango and it kept stalling out and I noticed the security light flashing, after 4 attempts the Durango stopped cranking altogether and the light was flashing continuously with the key in. I solved this by getting out of the vehicle and locking the doors with the remote, then I put the key into the drivers door lock and turned the key twice to the lock position and the lights flashed on the dash, unlocked the Durango with the key and got in and it started right up. Maybe theirs a way to lock the door before you close it and go thru that process same way. Might work, might not. I know it worked with the remote no problem. 4/24/19
2000 Durango put the key in the door lock, unlocked the door & the flashing security light went off & it will start now
I have a 2004 Dodge Durango and my alarm keeps going off and I can't start my truck what do I do
Insert the key on the drivers side and turn it 2 times to the left and 2 times to the right, do the same step on the passenger door and you should hear the alarm go off about 3 more times and that method should work for you.

Hey I have a 2000 dodge Dakota I recently purchased, and I had to change all the door locks to lock the vehicle because I didnot receive a key that with the doors when I purchased it, long story short I changed the door locks and when I locked the vehicle for the first time it armed the alarm system now I have no way to turn it nor can I drive the truck, and I tried the door truck and tried the ignition trick (5times), and the truck still has the security light on. How would I disarm the alarm? I obvs don’t have a key fob, I also heard that buying a pcm without the alarm system will solve this issue. Please any info is much appreciated. (My key also does NOT have a chip in. Unlike 2001+ models.)
Ok... So first off heres a little back story... I bought a 99 Durango about a year ago and Ive been having this same problem for months now. I turn the key to the on position the dash lights run their course and turn off as normal, gauges all work fine, no codes on the DRB scan tool, security light comes on but turns off. Go to start the engine and it doesn't even crank. Ive tried holding the door lock in the unlock position for 30 seconds, turning it back and forth, tried it on the other door locks, disconnected battery, holding the negative to positive, putting both together to "reset the computer", changed every sensor under the hood, grounding the light green wire with orange tracer stripe (which is actually for the horn not the security system btw, check the wiring diagram in the haynes manual... The security wire is dark green with an orange tracer stripe and runs through the ASD to the starter and fuel systems), checked all the relays and fuses, changed the ignition switch and tumbler, charged the battery, blah blah blah whatever. No luck. Sometimes it starts and runs great for a couple weeks and then bam right back to the same old bs. Ive been racking my brain on this thing for months! I have checked every dodge forum and car repair site that I can find and nothing has worked and I haven't seen this method anywhere! Anyway, I was at home the other night with 3 hungry kids (single dad with full custody) and no way to get to the store... Frustrated af and feeling completely hopeless, head on the steering wheel cussing at the damn thing... I held the ignition switch in the start position (the cranking position) for about 30 seconds... All of a sudden the Rango dinged 3 times and then about 2 seconds later started right up! Smh. It ran me to the store and back that night then cut the ignition on me again the next morning, so I tried holding it for 30 seconds in the start position again and sure enough, bing bing bing, vroom!! I was about to have a bon fire with this thing until I discovered this! Im not sure if the three dings means its in programming mode for the fob but it sure af overrid the security shutdown! Im going to try today to program my new fob using this method and I will give an update if so. Good luck to everyone else dealing with this frustrating situation! Hope this helps!

I am still trying to fix my car, but not from "under the hood" but from behind this computer screen. So at this point, I have figure that the first thing that I need to do is to replace the wiring that was hotwired from behind the drivers door & the trunk. I am looking for a junkyard that has them. Than after getting them, I figure that I need to find a mobile automotive electrician mechanic/technician. Where I can find one?? I have no clue!! haven't yet.. any suggestions from anyone??? I would love to hear.
