1984 subaru brat automatic with 2 wheel drive and a button for 4 wheel.
A shop replaced the bad distributor with a rebuilt one. It failed and they replaced
it again a 2nd time for free. After about 200-300 miles it stops running again. The
garage is 160 miles away where I had the work done. It has failed again and I had
it towed 4 miles away. This new garage says it is the electronic part of the
distributor. This would be the 3rd one and the original garage doesn't know what
to do. The best Subaru dealer says that Nipo-Denso is for 2 wheel and Hitachi is
for 4 wheel. All three garages agree the rebuilt distributor is Nipo-Denso. We all
don't understand what the original equipment on an EA81 should be. In other
words how did a nipon-denso get put into it when Subaru believes it should be the
Hitachi. None of us know what to do now. Ken 916 849-8746
