1989 Subaru Justy won't start after being driven for awhile?

Asked by haveajusty Oct 11, 2015 at 02:26 PM about the 1989 Subaru Justy

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

1989 Subaru Justy starts fine in the morning or after work.Problem is when I
stop in between like to get gas or groceries have to wait at least 20 minutes
before it will start. It runs just fine when started. It cranks good, just seems to
be no fire. Tried push starting a couple of times and that didn't work.

Is this EFI or carb? You'll need to figure out why you aren't getting fuel. Could be ignition circuit / fuel circuit / fuel pump or relay / clutch switch / etc.

Am having the same problem with my 1992 justy at the moment, i've worked out that if you have it in gear, turn the key it starts, but you have to put the clutch down real quick to stop it stalling. Obviously not a fix, but may help short term while you wait to find out.

That seems really odd Britpop.. Have either of you guys visited Justy forums (is there one?) to ask about said issues?
