1994 dodge stealth should i buy or not?

Stealth had lots of problems with engine and transmission and due to the fact it's Mitsubishi parts, most Dodge dealers can't work on these. Very expensive to own. The Daytona would be a better car.

AT probably means "automatic transmission." Dodge dealers will work on theese cars. However, they are very very expensive cars to repair. If you have the money, then go for it... if not the Daytona would be a much better choice. The Stealths were not bad cars, but with anything around thier age, its bound that something will break.

would stay away from the stealth...expensive to fix and parts are getting harder to find...as for the dayton..well i'd rather own a chev...

Expensive if you go through your garage for all the parts. I've searched the internet for what I've needed, and then installed me if I can, or had my garage do it. I've saved a ton of money that way. Reliability, like any other car, pends on how well it's been cared for. You'll have fun. --

i have a stealth r/t with 170000 miles runs awesome. they have 220 hp and get like 23 city and 30 highway all mitsubishi 3000gt parts fit the car, so finding parts isnt difficult

buddy your way off on your mpg ratings its closer too 18 not 23........ and a stealth would be alot better let alone alot faster than a daytona. the AT probably means automatic transmission

also i have a 94 stealth and they are a dependable car as long as they have gone through the proper 60k and 120k tuneup. I have the DOHC engine wich has alot more power (222 hp to be exact) but it also has alot more moving parts so more things to break than on a SOHC engine (about 180 hp) which is more durable engine. with any car it really only depends on the previous owner

odds are AT is automatic transmission, which i must say do not get...because thats lame. And DOHC stealths are overrated at 22hp, they do about 180 to the wheels and 210 at the engine, with a manual transmission that is...with the automatic its not even close to that, and would be inferior to a SOHC manual. I would say keep looking for a manual transmission stealth because these cars are awemse. I, myself drive a SOHC which puts down about 150 to the wheels.

I had a '94 Stealth and it was very reliable, but I took good care of it. I had the SOHC with 5-speed manual which put 164 HP to the flywheel, and 23 MPG isn't that far-fetched, I consistently got 22-24 MPG city. I would recommend finding an RT if possible since the base lacked very much in the handling department. Only real qualms I had towards the car were the expensive(er) parts (any import is going to be pricey, but the reliability offset the expensive parts) and service, such as a 4-wheel alignment costing about 40% more than any other car. If you're going for style and fun-factor, definitely get the Stealth. Also remember as far as reliability goes, the Daytona you're looking at is 4 years older. Like someone said above, thats always going to be a factor when looking at a used car of that age.

I own a 91 dodge daytona Se 2.5L with over 209,400 miles on it and I haven't had any problems with it a daytona is a good buy but if you can't find one of these a Plymouth lancer is a virtual clone of the daytona and a lot of parts interchange between them.

I own both a Base SOHC and a R/T non-turbo DOHC. I have driven several other R/T's. I find the SOHC engine to be faster, at least in the zero to 100 mph range. I don't know why this is. If someone can answer this, I would like to know myself. The R/T's look much cooler and all the Stealth's seem to handle about the same (which is great). Again, I have yet to own a twin-turbo. That's next. Is there anyone else that agrees with me?

the sohc Is not as fast as the dohc, if your sohc is faster than your dohc there is a deffinate problem with your dohc

And you my friend are in error. I have driven 5 other DOHC's, all of them R/T's both automatic and manual. The best time I could get from 0-60 is over 8 secs. My SOHC comes in at a respectable 7 secs. Where I learned to do the math, that's faster. I think that the DOHC's are faster probably from 80-140. However, there's no place around here for me to drive that fast to prove it. Anyone buying a Stealth, I'd recommend a good Base. They are lighter and faster than the ES and R/t.

What do you drive , what do you know about it? I,m talking about an r/t automatic v/s a base 5 speed manual.I DON'T think the tree at Maryland international raceway is lying.Also ran my r//t stick similar results,base still went through the traps nearly a second faster.

lets see ive had a stealth RT, 2 stealth RT TT's and a 3000gt VR4 but don't matter what ive driven, theres no way a 160hp sohc base is faster than a 222hp RT DOHC, and btw they never made an RT auto, only way its an auto is if someone did some swapping and who knows what they messed up in the process. so maybe that's why its slower, but I guarantee you a brand new stock 0 mile base SOHC is slower than a brand new 0 mile DOHC, period

I'm not trying to argue but dodge stealths r/t are all to common I think you are confusing these with the r/t tt .they never made a turbo automatic.In fact most r/ts and es mfodels are slush-o-imatic If you dont believe me all you have to do is check out carsforsale.com.Ipromise you'll find many both luxury and sport I really don't know how many mods were done to my base model ,but it has Borla exhaust [real dual],

I'm trying to make is simply hp and torque don't always add up to rpms.Should that be the case the 1955 chev power pack shouldn't have blown the ford T bird special away .......but it did I hope to post some youtube videos of me competing with myself soon..and I'm still looking for an affordable R/T turbo I think that's the answer to the fun I'ml looking for.

Mark,I'm definately puzzled at my r/t 222hp it wont burn rubber from a stop not even the slightest chirp yet it runs great.Is this normal for these cars.I swear to you i have driven faster stock Vega's IT runs smooth and quiet no miss .What do you think is wrong .I could spot this car 4 car lenths and still blow it away with my automatic sohc. HELP

It's a year later and I'm back. I finally read this whole thread.I do believe a man named Joel said the very same thing earlier in the thread.A nice manual trans soch.will beat out an automatic dohc any day of the week.I know this from much experience. Both of my cars are in excellent condition.

THE stealth should be an appreciative car, meaning the value should climb, long as you take care of it.
