Listen to me. I have had many cars in my life and what you learn is that electronic shit goes haywire quite often. For me it is the electric windows. What pain those are when they go out. I don't think you really have any problem. Does the car start and get you from point A to point B?

All these types of Electrical components are controlled by the computer box that runs along side the ECU. These computers use flash chips so all the programming is done at the beginning and the chip is flashed with the new script. Generally you can teach these systems new things like key fobs and so on but if this function isn't working then take the car to a Ford dealership and have them re flash the computer with a fresh, clean load of the software. I had a BMW 118i 2006 which had this issue, I lost one of the key fobs and bought a new one from the dealers and when we tried to configure it, it wouldn't accept the new fob so the dealers asked if they could keep the car for a few hours to reset and reload the computer box and ECU and afterwards the car even ran better because they updated the ECU software with the latest build as well. Cost me 2 hours labour including the key fob being programmed. Well worth doing, now I take all my cars every year or two for a software update at the dealers and have had no issues with any of my cars.
