Alternator overheating/not working correctly.
Our 2000 Ford Taurus alternator was just replaced within the last year. Recently the battery light has been occasionally flickering on and off; engine RPM has no effect on light indication. The charging output appears to be normal to battery when checked, regardless of what is running/on/off (lights, turn-signals, fan, etc.) The alternator was extremely hot after a normal short drive this evening. Any ideas, solutions, or other issues anybody's heard of? Thanks in advance!
