I have a 1983 Olds Cutlass Ciera LS -my carberetor racing wide open all the time--even at idlewhat can I do to fix this

The butterfly is open. Check throttle linkage. Take air filter off and close it by hand, see if it still does it, BE CAREFUL you don't blow the engine letting it run away...if it idles give it some throttle. slowly and make sure it returns to idle..or you may just need a rebuilt carb
