What causes oil to be in air filter and or carburetor on a 88 subaru gl

Most likely,a bad pvc filter stopped up or not working right,or worst case senario,would be internal engine problem.

Slimdezal, do you have a compression / leak down tester? Also, are you on www.fordfestiva.com? If no to both ?s, register and ask around if anyone is close by that can help you out. How often was the oil changed in this festiva? You might get lucky with seafoam in the oil. it is a very good cleaner and is safe. I've done oil treatments quite a few times. As TST said, start with the PVC system, clean and/or replace. Another thought.. with the car running, remove your oil cap and see how much positive pressure is coming out. Stay in touch
