Bad coil(s) or your spark plugs are due for replacement. Check engine light on?
I drive a Grand Marquis ie pretty Crown Vic. Same car mechanically. Notorious for leaking coolant into the #5 spark plug cylinder due to cracked intake. #5 is the driver side of engine, closest coil to the front. Pull the coil and inspect for coolant, can also smell it, very distinct. 4.6L misfires cause blinking check engine lights and car feels like its gonna die. Buy a new intake, gaskets, and plugs. Coils don't go bad on these old road boats.
Actually coils go bad all the time on Triton engines but they are fairly easy to replace. You can buy an entire set of 8 on Amazon for what an auto part store charges for one.
What year model did Ford/Lincoln/Mercury make a Triton 4.6L for a crown vic/town car/grand marquis? Weren't Triton engines only in the expeditions and F150s?
Ford first used the Triton in the Crown Vics around 1992.
Yep, found it. They called them "Modular Engines" back then. Way b4 my time lol
