How can I tell if I have a 1500 or a 2500 model Yukon XL?

check owners manual,or it should be letters on bottom of finders.check title.

agreed, if it says 1500 it is a 1/2 ton, if it says 2500 it is a 3/4 ton You can also call the dealer, they will run your vin and will be able to tell you.

Look at the number of lugnuts on each wheel. 1500 have 6 lugs and 2500 have 8 lugs. But a VIN number check would be the coorect answer in the long run.

2500 has got a two wheel drive, 1500 is four wheel drive + 6 wheel lugs
