1999 explorer has been sitting a few months, won't go into gear or start and theft light is on

You need to have the anti theft system re-flash in order to start the car and can only be done at the dealership !

can't believe the problem was as simple as getting a new battery.Apparently, when car is not started, the anti theft light blinks all the time. After starting,it stays on approx 3 seconds, then goes off. It's running like a top again.
