I HAVE A 1979 AMC SPIRIT 3.8 (232 CI) AUTOMATIC.  WILL A 4.2 L (258 CI) AMC
ENGINE FROM THE EARLY 80'S FIT MY VEHICLE (MOTOR MOUNTS ETC) WITHOUT

If you really want to wake up performance, you can easily fit the 4.0HO from a late 80s/early 90s Grand Cherokee. All those old AMC in-line 6s used the same block. The 304/360/396 AMC V-8 will also fit in the engine compartment, since the 304 was an option on many of the cars that share that platform and front sheet metal, including the Gremlin. Your options are WIDE open.

You can not switch a 4 to a 6 or an 8 on that without modification. What does AMC stand for? Awsome muscle car
