I have a 2000 GMC Sierra, I installed a slightly used
transmission, and now my gears won't shift. What
went wrong?

Before my husband installed the new transmission, the gears shifted fine. Once he installed the slightly used one, it cranks fine, actually sounds better, but the gears won't shift, you can hear the engine changing motion when shifted to P,R,N,D but no actual gear change. Does anyone know what could've possibly went wrong or something he did or didn't do?

What about the torch converter? Could that be the issue? If not placed correctly? If so, how would a person know?

It wasn't pulled out of a junkyard. It was from his older truck, that sat in the yard. He's thinking he didn't sit the torch converter in properly. If he didn't, what complications could occur if this is the case, do you know?
