1999 - Canadian built and sold. Now in US, why are recalls done only in Canada on this veh. not US?

This is probably due to the difference in the recall process/requirements between the two countries.
recalls should be done regardless of where it was built. Bullitens are different. you can contact GM and they can provide a recall history for your vehicle using the VIN number. i
Maybe becuase there were no american recalls on this vehicle. since it's Canadian made and sold, I'd go with the Canadian recall list. I don't see why a GM dealer wouldn't honour a canadian recall down there though? I mean, they aren't exactly in a good position to face a lawsuit over anything at the moment...
Recalls are not based on if it's canadian or american built - recalls are performed to vehicles falling within a certain VIN number. Recalls apply to vehicles regardless of where they are sold. In canada, it's not an issue to perform recalls on US vehicles, I've had to do lots of them. If you want, give me your VIN number and I can look and see what ones are available.
