98 GMC . What motor can I put into it?

I would like to keep my truck. it was my first truck, the love and nostalgia is
there. I would like to drop i new motor in but i was wondering what is
comparable with this truck? i dont need it to fly down the road but to be able
to cruise from time to time is nice. is a 350 long block too much? opinons
please and thank you

4.6 V6 vortec 280,000 miles

With work you can swap in a V8. I would get a donor truck from the same year as yours.
