Question type: General

I'm purchasing a 97 Sierra 1500 4x4 auto. The
motor is a 383 small block stoker. The tranny is
shot and I need to know which tranny would work
for a replacement? Need the numbers

Yeah I need a 4I60e. Was wanting the 4I80e but isn't that for a diesel? What would i have to change to make the electronics work as well as the mechanical? Also I have a guy that has a 99 4L60E out of a suburban 4x4 auto. Will that work out? My truck is a 97 just wondering if the 99 is compatible. I thought the body and engine style changed in 2000?
