How do i remove just the shift knob on a 1995 GMC

It won't unscrew. The end of the lever shaft is splined and the knob is pressed on. First thing to try is put it down in first gear and spray WD-40 in there... try tapping it off with a hammer. If that fails, take off the whole lever, and soak the knob end in boiling water. Hopefully that'll soften it enough to pull. You may have to end up putting it in a vice and destroying it with hammer and chisel. If you have a substitute knob, go ahead and do that. Taking the lever off is not that hard...Check YouTube for that. Good Luck
