98 4.0 swap with 96 4.0

I swaped  a 96 ranger with a 98 expl 4.0 .I am having  power loss .not
able to go over 55 mph or 3500 rpm.

Do a little research on the 4.0 OHV engine. You will notice there were as many as eight modifications to the engine over the years. Some engine parts are not interchangeable, even though they bolt up.
