Question type: Maintenance & Repair

It starts to stall out and shake a lil when in reverve or coming to a stop. The "service engine soon" light comes on also when Im going over 50 mph for a couple miles or so. Ive been told its my cadilac converter or a fuel pump. Is my cadilac converter bolted on or welded together?

my 94 sierra k1500 5.0 ltr 4x4 ,the engine light come on when i use the expressway, not sure if its because i used a bottle of lucas oil and 10w/30 oil, in the oil change. ya see it tends to smoke some in early ignition, anyway that and the fact i changed distibuter cap and rotor, have no answer but maybe i can get the answer here as well why my engine light comes on, I havnt flushed coolant yet but fluid is green and to the very top of cap, maybe a thermostat?. this truck was very poorly maintained.

Having the code read for the service engine light would shed some light on the current line of endless possibilities

9 times out of 10 on these trucks a soft code (when your engine light comes on only after driving a lil while and shuts off when you 1st turn the truck on) is caused by an EGR valve, they are expensive parts, but realistically its an unnessesary system on the truck. for a for sure answer on what it is u either need a scanner, an OBDII code reader, or go really old-school and get a paper-clip if ur gunna go with the 3rd option let me know and i'll walk u through how 2 read the code that way lol
