I think I have found the answer to my own question AT THIS STAGE IT'S A NO, UNFORTUNATELY THEY Aare not THE SAME. the engine blocks appear to be different enough that they don't fit.. At least as far as I could tell from photos . I would still be intereted in some one who has tried to do it confirming this. my problem was confused by my 2000 model vehicle having the J102 BODY BUT J100 running gear. ~~!!! APPARENTLY a hybrid produced DURINg THE change over in around Oct/Nov 2000. THat's when the J102 model started but my engine is definitely an HC.
in 2000 some models came hc engine and others k3 engine and in order to replace hc engine you have to replace almost every thing under the hood including ecu and cables maybe drive shafts too
THANKS YASSER, I didn't know it was that extensive' but did decide NOT to sell any parts as J102 model. I have parted out the the vehicle now and the remains have gone to the crusher. - including the auto gearbox that only J102 owners ever asked for !! Maybe the J100 BOX WAS BETTER ??? because they seem to last forever,, while the J102's break down. also, the single most popular item I could have sold a dozen times was the driver's door master switch, closely followed by the TOWBAR !! ( pictured) $300 !! could have sold 10 of them over a 12 month period here in NZ. Kia Orana Roy.
done it. I wasn't aware my screen name was Echo-2299. and it's not something I would think of either. . last piece sold ; the front axles.!! Roy
you are welcome :) I think yes j100 is more durable than j102 and I read reviews that j100 is better performance in off-roads, but j102 is more hp and better fuel consumption and better in more couple things I'm trying to find main power window for my car and didn't find any :(
