Crank no start issue

Question type: General

I have a 98 2.5l auto
ranger I put a
transmission in and now I
put a new battery in it and
it cranks really slow and
not starting the battery
cables get hot. I jumped
the starter over and didn't
start. It is piping back
threw the thottle body
anything u would suggest
