Radiator fans making battery die

When I turn on the defrost function the
radiator fans turn on. When the radiator
fans are running, they do not turn off long
enough for the alternator to recharge the
battery. Eventually the battery dies. What
can I do to adjust the fan cycle so that the
fans turn off a bit longer?

Are you saying the fans run long enough after shutting the engine off that the battery dies? Your car could be running too hot or the thermostatic switch might need to be replaced. It is also possible that your battery is just weak or that your alternator is not putting out enough power to keep up with the demand.
