How much to replace a convertible roof?

Someone is looking to sell a 1972 Volkswagen
Beetle WITH NO ROOF for $5000? The car had
been garaged and very little rust apparently, good
condition, just no roof (was ripped). What would a
roof replacement cost and can you experts tell me
if it is worth $5000 without a roof? Would this be a
wise investment, ie. would this car keep it's value
as a vintage car if I replace the roof?

I think that price is too high. Go to a local upholstery shop and see what they would charge. Does it have the top frame?
