Is it a good idea to convert my 1972 Super Beetle from its original 4 lug wheel to a 5 lug wheel using the adapter ?

What are the  pros and cons for switching?
Will I have any problems with it once I

If you use adapters to get 5 lugs you still are relying on the original 4 lugs to hold the wheels on.
