Question type: General
I have a 74 super beetle conv. It has a ac pump on the motor, it has factory looking slots in the sheetmetal below the front bumper to cool the ac radiator behind and it has a very factory looking knob just below the radio to control the ac. Everyone tells me they never had factory ac. Could you let me know.

Some cars did come with air, however they were not from the factory. It was an option that dealers offered and if taken by the buyer it was installed by a seperate contractor. My 73 also had the a/c. They are rare as most buyers didnt want to spend the money and/or didnt want the horsepower shortage.
Hello, my 1979 super beetle also has the ac condenser and control knobs inside. It’s missing compressor and mount. By chance can you send me part number on compressor so I may be able find one to purchase. I also wondering if could send me pictures of engine compartment and front trunk so I see what else I’m missing to fix on mine. My email is bert5290@yahoo.com

I owned a 1974 Super Beetle with factory a/c. I loved that car.
I have a 1974 super beetle which I purchased new from the dealership. The only info I have on the system is that their is a DPD logo on the inside section of the AC unit. The car was retrofitted with AC unit. My unit has a similar control button below the radio. I am restoring the bug and need replacement ac condenser. Can anyone help me locate a supplier for the condenser? My email is johuba@comcast.net. Thanks.
