2003 honda odyssey trans
I have a honda odyssey and this is a question
about the transmission. About a week ago when
leaving work making a left after a red light i
believed my transmission slipped going from 1st to
2nd gear. Had a rpm jump. I ignored it at the time
cause it was the first time and didnt do it again
after. It worked normal for a couple of days. I dont
drive much. Then after leaving walmart with my
family around 20 mph on a flat road between 2nd
and 3rd it revved up to a little over 3k with just
normal driving. After letting off the gas both the
first 2 times and pushing on it again it shifted. The
next day i warmed up the car and drove to my dads
on the freeway no problem. While leaving his
house i was on a road after a turn and at 20 miles
a hour, 2nd to 3rd gear change it started slipping
again. This time after letting off the gas and
pushing it again it just kept revving with no power. I
slowed and made a right turn. After it went back
into 1 first and i made that turn i shifted threw all
the gears but i was noticing it felt kinda sluggish.
Especially while speeding up threw 2nd gear. So i
drove home. After i was there i test drove it trying
to replicate the problem. On a small hill close to my
house it felt like there maybe was a small slip in
first and def a larger slip between 2nd and 3rd.
Wad able to get it to do it again within 5 to 10
minutes of trying. Im not a lead foot driver. I
bought the car with 200k miles on it and im sitting
at 208k miles. Had it 2 years. When i got it it had
pretty dark fluid so during the first summer at
spaced out times. I did 4 drain and fills with the
outside filter also being replaced. I did the drain
and fills till the fluid looked good to my eye when
on a paper towel. Last year i got a code for the
trans and looked the problem online and having it
check at 2 trans shop. Online it said replace the 3rd
and 4th gear pressure switches. The first shop said
the trans pressure was to low so i took it to
another. The next said the pressures were fine and
he thought it shifted pretty good but said 3rd and
4th switches needed replaced. So i did that switch
myself to save the money. And it has ran good
pretty much threw all this till now. I went to
autozone and there arent any codes to pull yet. So i
have maintained the trans the best i know how to.
Im just trying to find out if this is the beginning of
the end. I know the 3rd gears clutches wear out
leading to this or clogged screens on the solenoids
and even the possibility of the internal filter being
clogged. Not to mention the torque converter. Any
advice would be appreciated cause im lost on my
next step. I would like to save it if i could.
