Key stuck in ignition and won't turn either way

Asked by bergmahb Jul 02, 2015 at 12:08 PM about the 2003 Honda Pilot

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My key for a 2003 Honda Pilot got completely stuck in the ignition as I attempted to take it
out after I parked today. I was having some issues with it prior to today's incident as it was
sticky and needed extra effort to take out and start occasionally, but it never had
completely stuck as it has today. Any thoughts/suggestions?

There is slot on top of steering wheel console with a plug cover. Take it off and insert your other key. It will release.

I turned the car back on, shifted to 2nd, turned the 4WD off, then shifted back to Park and turned the car back off. The key released. So either I wasn’t all the way in Park, or it can’t turn off if the 4WD is still on, which you can’t see unless you shift to 2nd.
