Why is my 98 honda accord OVERHEATING and when u drive it for a while it will turn off

If you're having to add coolant than there's definitely a leak, this would be why it's overheating. The reason it's shutting off is probably because it's overheating, and the car is shutting itself off to prevent any major engine damage. If you can't visibly see any leaks you should have the system pressure tested to confirm where it's loosing coolant from.

mauto1's first 2 lines speak volumes. If no signs of leakage anyplace on the engine cooling system, you have to rule out if the thermostat is stuck shut, the cooling fans running at all or only on low speed, and if not are the fan relays good, and if none of those are the issue, the head gaskets are probably leaking and the water boils very fast.
