Overheating issues with my 1997 Honda Accord

see if the fans come on when it gets hot , check coolant level and if there's circulation through the radiator cap , then you can replace/test the thermostat , but before you spend big $$$ see if the head gasket is blown that's an old car , look under the oil fill cap what do you see , what does the exhaust look like ?
