94 passport won't fully engage to 2h?

Asked by curley144 Jan 24, 2012 at 02:06 AM about the 1994 Honda Passport

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I shifted into 4h last night driving over a hill. I drove in 4h for about 15 minutes.
when I shifted back into 2h it turned off the light for 4x4. It disengaged the 4x4
but now is making a weird clicking sound like its not fully out of gear. The clicking
sounds like its coming from the transfer case.
Tried shifting while in reverse, driving a few meters then reversing multiple times,
and taking sharp turns.
Thanks for any help

Hey! I have a newer passport so I dodnt know if this will work, but try disconecting the battery, then hooking it back up.some times a stuck servo just needs the power off--or check to see if the shifting linkage is not worn(real sloppy) had a jeep once that the linkage was bad had to be replaced.

i hope you were off roading or driving in slick conditions, cuz i dont see the need for 4h going up a hill
