look in the boneyard for a t-bird with a super 6 and yank the blower from it.
Exhaust, cold air intake, gears, t-lock, and a tune
You can also use the stock blower from a 03-04 cobra mustang super six motersport makes a intake kit. http://www.supersixmotorsports.com/
or you could put a 302, or 351W into it... you can put a blower on those, or even install a T5 turbo in with them...
it would technically be illegal but you could take the cats and hollow them out so it still looks like you have them if someone inspects the car. put them back on and then straight pipe it with a resonator so it doesn't sound like a truck.that and a cold air intake should give you plenty of horse power. One of my friends did it and it sounds like its cammed even when its not. he can burn out through a couple of gears if he feels like it. a couple of sensors will be set off so your gonna need to clear your codes every so often. but its definitly worth the ride.
some one already said the t-bird motor, but since your car is still a single port you can actually just put the t-bird supercharger on it. Now keep in mind you do not want to push to much boost seeing as its a stock bottom end. But the supercharger will bring the 97 v6 up to about 10hp or so above the stock split port v6's of 99-04. t bird supercharger kits or m90 supercharger kits arent to hard to come by and usually they are decently priced and best of all they bolt right up for the most part.
you cant use the super charger off a t bird sc,the engine is a 90 degre block and yours is not.
swap heads , headers ,exhaust, put bigger fuel trim in, open up air, cold air intake plugs wire, bigger fuel injectors, chip it, theres alot of things u can do
we have the same car I gave it to my son and were in same delima,we are gonna take the cat exh.out and use the staight pipe rear mufflers I will let you know the differance
