Key fob replacement

Question type: General

I have a 2010 For Taurus. The fob on one
key doesn’t lock the car, but it unlocks the
car. The second fob the key fell out of. I
found replacement fobs on Amazon- a lot
cheaper than dealership. My question is:
are the Amazon ones just as good, and is it
easy to reprogram the fob. Or is this
something I should leave up to the
dealership.

The key fobs found online are typically just as good as the dealership fobs and are a fraction of the price. As for programming, each car model and year has its own way to reprogram key fobs. Fords are typically very easy. I would search on YouTube for a video describing the process before overpaying at the dealer.
