Is it difficult to replace (or reseat) the passenger airbag light?
I rented a 2010 Toyota Prius for 4 days. Fyi, the car owner runs a auto body shop, and rental
was handle by a different company.
I returned the car , went inside to use restroom while they did the walk around for damages,
and in about 4 minutes the guy called me out to the car and ask me did I know what happened
to the airbag light (passenger side). I was surprised to see that the light was sitting back inside
the dashboard. Also a little surprised that they found that so quickly when it was dark outside
(7:30 pm). I didn't even notice it being like that at all.
So my questions are:
1. Is it possible to push the passenger airbag light out of its housing area and back into the
dashboard without causing any damage to the face of the light or the dashboard surface area
around the light ? When viewing the light there was no damage or scratches, other than the
light being pushed out of its housing and sitting inside the dash. Light also functioned.
2. To pop the light back in looked relatively easy to me. I'm sure would be a piece of cake for a
body shop. I'd like to hear you guys input on this please. The rental car company immediately
attempted to ding my card $400 without saying a word, and said i'd receive it back if their
investigation showed it wasn't my fault. Sorry to include the extra info here but I wanted to let
you know how this question came about.
