First, do you go to the same gas station and use the same pump and nozzle everytime? If so, try raising the nozzle as high as you can in the air and let the vapor recovery line drain, There may be liquid gas in it, if so, it won't pump. Unlikely scenario, granted. But, speaking of vapor recovery, if the vapor recovery line on your Edge ...there is a small hole next to the larger fill hole, than is for if you try to top it off too much the gas will rum in to that small hole and not out on to the ground, then evaporate into the atmosphere. Anyway, if that line is restricted in any way, it serves another purpose: when you pump gas in, air and gas fumes must come OUT, and that same line forces those fumes in to a canister full of activated charcoal, that purges when you start the car and burns out through the regular running of the engine. If that is clogged, or sometimes a rubber hose to the canister gets a kink in it, the nozzle 'thinks' the tank is full. Now you say, that's all well and good, but the fix? Either simply take it to a mechanic, (I know, you could have thought of that) or try to follow that hose, usually about a 1/2"ID hose to the canister and see what you can see. Or, get an air hose and pump some air in to it from the filler. gently, not a great deal of pressure, just about as much as you could pump in as if you are blowing up as balloon or something.

AND... If you have Ford’s capless full filler, that deters gas theft with two different ways. With Easy Fuel, a spring-loaded flapper door is held closed by latches that can only be released by a standard-size fuel nozzle. This eliminates the need for a fuel tank screw cap. When the proper nozzle is inserted into the filler neck of the system, the latches release, and the nozzle pushes the spring-loaded flapper door to the open position. When the nozzle is removed, the flapper door automatically is forced closed by the spring. Easy Fuel has a unique mis-fueling inhibitor to reduce improper refueling and siphoning. The inhibitor consists of a fuel nozzle detector that guides the nozzle to the opening. If a nozzle or foreign tube of a different size – a diesel nozzle or plastic hose, for example – is placed in the filler neck of a gasoline-powered vehicle, the latches will not release. If that system is defective, same result. The nozzle will shut off

I'm having the same problem. Tried numerous gas stations and pumps over the last few weeks. Last time I went to get gas I could barely get any to go in and it was spilling out of the car while the tank was empty. It's like trying to feed a baby. Very frustrating as ford says its not under warranty anymore.

Thank goodness we are not alone! We bought a 2014 Ford Edge and have even videoed gas pouring out of the vehicle while we pumped it in! Dealer "could not find anything wrong", even after watching the video. This is a death waiting to happen.

See if the nozzle you are putting in there is small. If so, use a larger nozzle. There is a metal door in the area where you put the pump which you can see with your eyes that will not open unless two notches on both sides are pushed in by the nozzle when you insert it. If the door does not open, there is a separate drain that will cause the fuel to poor out onto the ground. Hope this helps.

Having the same issue 2012 Ford Edge ran tank for first time below 1/4 of a tank and went to fill it up but can not get fuel to enter. The tank is actually pressurizing and not allowing gas to enter the tank. Good thing I am not on a trip or planning to go anywhere far away soon as I can not put more than a gallon or two of gas in before it shuts off and flows out of the vehicle behind the rear tire. Very Frustrating and went to ford but can not get in for 4 days. Can not figure out any quick fix to make it work. Check Engine Light goes on only way to reset is disconnect battery for 5 mins and let computers reset still repeats issue.

I have a 2013 Ford Edge just purchased it yesterday I went to put gas today and after I got into the line for a car wash the car turned off. When I drove it yesterday and this morning I didn’t have a problem. When I got to my office the idle changed the low engine oil pressure light came on. It idle and then turns off. Anyone with the same issue.

So after loads of investigation with our ford mondeo it turns out there is a mechanism that has come lose behind spring loaded flap which is shutting off flow. Only able to see it there with a torch and screwdriver through plastic filler pipe which came with vehicle. Requires replacing.

For an anti-siphon feature it seems that someone could push a 3/4 inch metal pipe in first and then the rubber hose. Yes or No?

I have a 2016 Ford edge and pumping gas in it is very frustrating. I know I only have 1/4 tank and only after 1-2 gallons it shuts off n I have to keep on trying to adjust the pump n sometimes it’s good and other times it’s not . Just recently after I pumped gas ( I don’t top off) it happened ( the constant shutt off while pumping) I got as far as a mile from gas station and while at a light my car turned off completely ( I did notice battery light) and on dash screen it said “ place car on park and turn car back on” I did and it turned on ( had that happen twice) after pumping gas issue. Very frustrating and I’m pretty auto savvy so I know how to pump gas, and my battery is new ( got it retested n its good) *** QUESTION — does anyone know about the brake recall on my type car? I received notice of recall but have not heard anything regarding the resolution. I mean its the brakes kinda important I think ‍♀️
